As Above, So Below
Today, I want to share the story behind ASA, the last pair from the very first ZVET collection. A pair that carries something very personal to me.
ASA was created as a tribute. A tribute to my late auntie, one of the most stylish women I have ever known. She had this bold, unapologetic sense of fashion. I still remember her wearing statement bold jewelry, the kind you would see on the iconic Living Single series or even on TV watching the legendary group BONEY M.
ASA is my way of honoring her style, her spirit, her presence but I also wanted it to be more than nostalgia. I wanted the pair to reflect nature, connection, and the body as a temple.
"A Conversation Between Nature and the Body"
When I designed ASA, I thought about nature because self-love isn’t just internal. It’s also how we nourish and care for our bodies. Our body is a temple and nature is its reflection and ASA carries that symbolism.
The top element can be seen as the moon or the sun. The waves represent water, flowing, cleansing, ever-moving. It echoes the ancient wisdom of: “As above, so below.” What we feel within reflects in how we treat ourselves, our surroundings, and our bodies.
ASA closes the chapter of the NITA Collection, but the journey doesn’t end there.
The next chapter is about the REBIRTH. If NITA collection is about the journey of self-discovery, then I AM collection is the affirmation of self.
