THE GENESIS: Courage in the Becoming.
Share
Today, I was reflecting on something I came across recently: the idea that courage is not an emotion, but it’s an action.
That stayed with me because often we think we have to feel brave first, when actually, courage is in the doing itself. That reminder encouraged me to show up here, to share the story behind the NITA Collection, something I’ve been meaning to do for a while.
I’ve always wanted to create a space to share the inspirations behind the collections, the themes, the intentions, the journey. But I’ll admit: it took me a long time to gather the courage. Perhaps it was shyness, or maybe just the weight of telling a deeply personal story. But here we are, beginning.
"The Season of Shedding"
Many people have asked: “What inspired the themes?” or “Why describe it as a woman’s journey to self-love and self-discovery?” The answer is simple; it came from my own life. The process of creating this collection coincided with a pivotal time for me: a season of shedding, of releasing old versions of myself to make way for what was next.
I didn’t realize it fully then, but I was undergoing my metamorphosis.
At that time, I often found myself having these quiet meetings with myself, trying to understand who I was becoming. In hindsight, I can see that I was on a journey of self-love even though I didn’t call it that then. I was learning about the power of my thoughts, how to choose myself, and the importance of boundaries. The learning began when I was just 19, though I didn’t have the words for it back then.
All of that learning is infused into the NITA Collection. Every piece is born from that journey: a collection of lessons, reflections, and quiet moments of growth.
"The Ubuntu Connection"
There’s also a deeper philosophy that shaped this collection: Ubuntu, a Bantu concept that says, “I am because you are.” It’s a beautiful reminder that we are all connected. Our healing, our growth, our love, it doesn’t end with us.
As we learn to love and respect ourselves, we inevitably become better at extending that love to others. It’s not about isolation; it’s about connection.
That is the heart of NITA. The collection is a visual and tangible reflection of self-discovery, but also community and shared humanity.
Each piece is a symbol, not just of personal transformation, but of how that transformation ripples outward.
I started with the Nana earrings, a design that carries these intentions with grace. I’ll share more about them and the stories they hold.
Thank you for being here, for reading, for witnessing this unfolding. This is just the beginning, and I’m excited to continue sharing this journey with you through words, through design, through connection.
With love,
Svetta.
